I can't remember if you guys got separate rooms or if you shared a room. It's up to you guys.

Sam Stoneback 0:04

Like the Three Stooges.

Andy 0:05

Nice.

Ralph Ricks 0:06

It's cold, man.

Andy 0:07

We put Ralph on the bottom of

Sam Stoneback 0:09

the feet like a sardine.

Andy 0:11

Small, just to fit them in.

Ralph Ricks 0:21

Hello, and welcome to episode 200.1 of the erisable Podcast. Today we're gonna complete our dungeon adventure with Dungeon Master Monica Corwin. Thanks for joining us again, Monica.

Monica Corwin 0:33

Thanks for having me.

Andy 0:34

So is Dungeon Master gender inclusive, or would. Would it be better to say Dungeon Mistress?

Monica Corwin 0:39

I think Dungeon Master is all encompassing.

Andy 0:42

That's good.

Monica Corwin 0:44

Chee. He, they, everybody.

Andy 0:45

Yeah. Awesome.

Ralph Ricks 0:47

So I think Monica has a recap for where we were last time, because it's been a couple weeks, and, like, so much happened in that episode. They're like, I need a review. I'm like, I remember killing something, and then a bunch of cool stuff happened.

Monica Corwin 1:01

You guys.

Sam Stoneback 1:02

Something and. Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Ralph Ricks 1:04

Yeah. So if you don't mind, you want to jump right in?

Monica Corwin 1:06

Of course. Yeah. I'll just give everybody a quick recap, and then we'll go over what everybody needs to do to set up if anybody hasn't done that. So last time you all found yourself in a stationary shop, you had an encounter with a mimic. You met a. I can't remember what he is, what. What the creature is called. Giant turtle. You met a giant turtle. Turtle. Turtle. You're right. There you go. Yeah. You met him. He was the shop's proprietor. Then you were somehow magically transported to this new world. Found yourself outside of a small village in a world that is sort of partially erased and sort of pencil sketched in. You learned how graphite and. And, like, the eraser situation works for this world. You guys were given each an amount of graphite and I think eraser 2. I apologize. I don't have my notes. So I. I'm just gonna. You guys are gonna have four of each. I think you had. You may have had three last time, but you've got. You're full up this time. So you've got four uses now. Just goes, yeah, I can't find my notes and DMs prerogative. You entered a village. You found an inn to try to ask some questions, figure out what was going on in the inn. You met a character. Again, I don't have my notes. Can't remember his name. I apologize. You tried to convince him to lead you into the forest, the nearby forest, to find something. I cannot remember if you guys had Learned what's in the forest yet or not? Yes, you did. Okay.

Ralph Ricks 2:34

The Eternal Quill.

Andy 2:35

What is it?

Monica Corwin 2:36

Yeah.

Andy 2:36

Oh, the Eternal Quill. Right.

Monica Corwin 2:38

So you tried to convince this character to lead you in the forest. He was not convinced to lead you in, but he is. He was convinced to give you a map. This is. So you guys were talking to him. The last thing he said to you guys was something along the lines of, what do you know about golems? And then we ended the last session. We are going to start today in the morning. So you guys have all had a long rest. If you haven't reset any spells that you need, you can reset those. Pick new spells. I'm pretty sure everybody's good, though. Make sure you've reset all your stats. And then the encounter. The information that he shared. I'm going to share with you now. He's gonna. He was convinced enough to talk. You talked for a couple of hours, you guys. He bought you guys a round of drinks, and he basically drew a little sort of sketchy map using some soot from the fireplace on a piece of canvas. And at that time, you noticed while you have this graphite dust and this eraser, tools such as pencils, pens, things like that, quills, et cetera, don't seem to exist in this world, which is why he kind of scribbled. And as he was doing it, it seemed like it was sort of a secret. Sort of. He was trying to keep it a little hidden so people wouldn't notice. And let me make you guys a little map here, and I will turn the camera so you guys can see my terrible drawing skills.

Andy 4:07

World without pens and paper. And I don't want to be in this world.

Sam Stoneback 4:13

And so we were able to change. Like, change spells in the meantime.

Monica Corwin 4:16

Yep.

Sam Stoneback 4:17

We swap those out.

Monica Corwin 4:18

Yep. Overnight you would have been able to choose ones.

Andy 4:21

Okay, cool.

Monica Corwin 4:22

All right, so the map that he. Let me see if I can turn my camera down.

Andy 4:29

Sorry. This cat. Ooh.

Monica Corwin 4:33

All right, so we got. Let me close my book here.

Andy 4:41

I feel like we need.

Ralph Ricks 4:43

I feel like we need to know which field notes this is.

Monica Corwin 4:46

Oh, it's the Irish one.

Andy 4:49

Nice.

Monica Corwin 4:52

And then it's got, like, a goulet, pens, sticker on there.

Andy 4:55

But we don't see the field notes because those don't exist in this world.

Monica Corwin 4:58

Yeah, of course. Yeah. Ralph, this is canvas.

Ralph Ricks 5:01

It's our mind's eye.

Andy 5:03

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 5:04

So what the. Basically, what he drew before you guys separated was the village leads into the edge of the forest, and then he drew a sort of you gotta follow the trail. And then there are specific clearings as you go on the trail. And then he tells you, but he ran out of room on his canvas. The other side kind of goes up to a point. And the temple is supposed to be somewhere in the middle of those clearings.

Sam Stoneback 5:30

Okay, and did he give us any guidance on like which direction to go, like, of those two options, or do we just kind of have to.

Monica Corwin 5:36

He did not. He just gave you kind of the general direction of the forest and he advised you stay on the. On the path.

Andy 5:46

Aha. Okay.

Monica Corwin 5:49

Got it. All right, so do you wanna. Real quick, before we get in, do you guys wanna just go around and remind everybody what characters you're playing?

Sam Stoneback 6:00

I can start. So I'm playing Sam Stoneback. I'm a level five bard, male human. And as my character. Do I do we can give the story or.

Monica Corwin 6:13

Yeah, just generally what you got. Yeah, just your character information that I'm gonna go next.

Ralph Ricks 6:20

I am Ralph Ricks, a little elven thief with a history in bookbinding and eventual streak.

Andy 6:27

Nice. I am Andros, golden bear of the Golden Bear royal family. I am a level five human warlock. Awesome.

Monica Corwin 6:39

That's a good reminder for everybody because some people might have forgotten what everybody's playing.

Andy 6:43

I almost forgot.

Monica Corwin 6:46

All right, all right. So you find yourselves waking up in the inn. I can't remember if you guys got separate rooms or if you shared a room. It's up to you guys.

Sam Stoneback 6:54

Like the Three Stooges.

Monica Corwin 6:55

Nice.

Ralph Ricks 6:56

It's cold, man.

Andy 6:57

We put Ralph in the bottom of

Sam Stoneback 6:59

the feet like a sardine.

Andy 7:01

Small just to fit them in. Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 7:07

Johnny's Andy and I should say Andros and Sam slept normal. And Johnny's character just slept like at the foot of the bed, which is a little guy.

Ralph Ricks 7:18

For 10 minutes.

Sam Stoneback 7:19

Yeah, got a solid 10 minutes.

Ralph Ricks 7:22

What does he say?

Andy 7:24

Monica, what is it? You said like elves? Just sort of like. Just sleep for four hours in a hypnotic state?

Monica Corwin 7:28

Yeah, they do like a medit. The meditative state to reset their stuff.

Andy 7:32

Ralph was just sort of like in

Sam Stoneback 7:34

the corner, so perfect looking, staring at us. We didn't sleep very well.

Ralph Ricks 7:38

Really?

Sam Stoneback 7:39

Just you turn around staring.

Andy 7:42

That's great, baby. Hey, guys, what's your dream?

Monica Corwin 7:47

In the back.

Sam Stoneback 7:48

Panting.

Monica Corwin 7:53

All right, what would you guys like to do?

Andy 7:56

Well, wake up, go down to the inn, maybe have a little coffee or whatever the equivalent is in this world.

Ralph Ricks 8:03

Don't say there's no coffee.

Andy 8:05

Yeah, I hope so.

Monica Corwin 8:07

You walk up and they have the typical arrangement of beers and liquors that are A little more pricey. They also have a very nice sort of pour over coffee situation that is actually pretty decent, you know.

Andy 8:20

And I'm just like generous with my gold. So I'm like round of pour overs for all three of us.

Sam Stoneback 8:26

So single origin pour overs.

Andy 8:30

I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

Ralph Ricks 8:32

Is this a Honduran blend?

Monica Corwin 8:35

The human behind the counter is just gonna sigh and then she'll like get out a bunch of. She can do them individually.

Sam Stoneback 8:43

Gets out her scales. He like starts weighing out the beam. I would say that Sam starts kind of re looking around the room, maybe checking for the guy that they saw last night. And he just kind of wants to take like sort of take the room in and see what he finds. So.

Monica Corwin 8:58

Yeah, give me a perception check.

Andy 9:00

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 9:03

Okay.

Andy 9:03

Before. Before my coffee.

Sam Stoneback 9:05

So I have no perception bubbles for 16.

Monica Corwin 9:08

16. Yeah. Not bad.

Sam Stoneback 9:10

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 9:10

The guy that was. That you had seen last night is not present. There are a couple of patrons sort of bleary eyed sitting at tables. There are a couple at the bar that you know, still have beers in front of them that just didn't start with coffee. Um, the tone in the room is generally sort of sleepy. Everybody's kind of waking up. Sorry about that. And yeah, you don't really. Nothing really catches your eye. That seems sort of out of place.

Ralph Ricks 9:37

But so can my character. Sorry. Talk to the bartender to ask if they have something besides coffee to help you wake up.

Monica Corwin 9:44

Yeah, of course.

Ralph Ricks 9:45

In addition to the coffee.

Monica Corwin 9:47

Yeah, she. She'll like reach down and pull a barrel of. A barrel of something and put it on the counter like a.

Andy 9:54

Is this what we call Elvish coffee?

Monica Corwin 9:56

And it's gonna be. She's got a like a really nice bourbon cream. If you'd like to add that to your coffee.

Ralph Ricks 10:03

Yes, please.

Andy 10:05

Waking up with an elvish coffee.

Monica Corwin 10:08

Pour some of that in your coffee very generously because. Because your golden bear friend there was very generous with his. His round for everybody.

Sam Stoneback 10:17

Excellent. So do we need. Is there anything we need to gather up or anything we need before we hit the road to go figure this out? What do you guys think?

Andy 10:25

I don't know.

Sam Stoneback 10:25

Is there any reason to stick around or should we just. We just get on with it?

Andy 10:28

I think I brought all of my tools and everything in my cloak, so. Didn't need anything in the in room.

Ralph Ricks 10:34

So should we make a copy of the map in case we could separate it?

Sam Stoneback 10:37

That's a great idea.

Andy 10:38

Onto what?

Ralph Ricks 10:39

Scratch it on some wood.

Sam Stoneback 10:41

Just.

Andy 10:41

Yeah, put on the back of a chair and just take the chair with us.

Ralph Ricks 10:45

You could like chop the table up, use a book. Finding all to draw it on there. That's indelible.

Andy 10:50

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 10:52

If you guys had paper or pencils or pens or anything with you when you and when you came to this world, you would still have those items.

Ralph Ricks 10:59

Calligrapher supplies.

Monica Corwin 11:00

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys all each had some kind of something that had a stationary element.

Sam Stoneback 11:04

I definitely had my notebook with the songs and things in it.

Andy 11:07

So.

Sam Stoneback 11:07

Okay, so do we need to do anything to like make the copy or we just do it?

Monica Corwin 11:12

You could just do it.

Sam Stoneback 11:12

Yeah, just do it. Okay, so we make the copy.

Monica Corwin 11:15

Who's making the copy?

Ralph Ricks 11:18

A volunteer?

Monica Corwin 11:19

Yeah. Roll a performance check to see how good the copy is.

Sam Stoneback 11:24

D20.

Monica Corwin 11:25

Yep.

Andy 11:26

D27 doesn't sound good.

Ralph Ricks 11:32

Would this be under dexterity salmon's ch. Oh, I get negative one.

Andy 11:40

Yay.

Monica Corwin 11:41

Oh, no. Crap.

Andy 11:45

We're getting lost, guys.

Ralph Ricks 11:46

Okay,

Monica Corwin 11:49

what was the total?

Ralph Ricks 11:51

Six.

Monica Corwin 11:52

Six. Okay. You are able to copy. You can see the general elements on there, but you don't give it enough time to dry. So it's a little bit smudgy.

Sam Stoneback 12:01

Oh, okay. It's going to look like. When you ask like a kid to draw something like, or like, hey, you know, write, write something down for me. And then they're like a three year old that's like, oh, I can see it in there somewhere. When you walk down the path, supposed

Monica Corwin 12:15

to be a grocery list.

Sam Stoneback 12:15

Point straight into the woods and be like, that's the way we go.

Ralph Ricks 12:19

Is the bartender freaking out when she sees this? Like, what is this magic?

Monica Corwin 12:23

When you pull out anything that is notebook paper, pencil, you do notice that people around the room that are present kind of look a little bit nervous by the presence of these items. Nobody says anything, nobody does anything, but everybody kind of looks just a little bit nervous about it.

Andy 12:40

Okay.

Monica Corwin 12:41

If you walked into a bar and just sat a gun on the table, get that look about him.

Andy 12:46

Yeah. Okay.

Ralph Ricks 12:48

You're gods.

Sam Stoneback 12:50

I'm gonna experiment and I'm just gonna like, hold my notebook in my hand and I'm just gonna walk towards somebody, see what they do. I just want to see what. I just want to see what happens.

Monica Corwin 13:01

Which direction? Someone that's sitting at a table. Someone that's sitting at the bar.

Andy 13:03

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 13:05

Nice. The bar would make no sense. So, like, somebody send me the bar. Like, look like just amble towards them holding it and see if.

Monica Corwin 13:11

Yeah. So close. It gets one of the patrons that are sort of, you know, waking up at one of the tables. They've Got, like, a plate of breakfast in front of them. As you get closer, and they keep their eyes on you, they do that thing where, like, dogs are trying not to. They're trying to pretend they're not staring at you when you have food. And they're kind of looking at the corner. Yeah. And he kind of. Kind of keeps moving this way as you get closer.

Sam Stoneback 13:35

I was curious. I wanted to see if they were going to try to steal it from me or if it was, like, a valuable thing or if it was more of, like, a dangerous thing.

Monica Corwin 13:40

You get. You get the sense that it is dangerous more than valuable.

Andy 13:45

Okay. My character is generally pretty unaware and a little impatient, so he's like. Like, come on, guys. And just sort of, like, walks very confidently out of the tavern.

Sam Stoneback 13:58

Let us embark.

Monica Corwin 14:02

Yeah, we head out. It is early morning. You guys got a pretty early start. The weather seems normal. Like 70s. Like, pretty. Pretty nice, actually. The sun is shining overhead. Not overhead, sort of to the east of Elson. Since morning. I didn't think about that. The village outside is pretty quiet when there's a slight fog kind of rolling through town just a little bit as it starts to warm up, break into

Andy 14:27

song, and I just sing. There goes the baker with his tray like always. No, I'm just kidding.

Sam Stoneback 14:32

All right, you stop singing, and I'm, like, about to pull out my instrument. I'm like, we're going to do it.

Andy 14:38

Put it back in. All right. So we're standing outside, taking in the fresh air. Sorry. There is a very rambunctious kitten just making mayhem behind me. And turn to Ralph and be like, hey, pull out that map. Let's try to figure out where we're going. All right. And we are. I'm sorry, remind me where we are.

Sam Stoneback 14:56

Yeah. So we're at the top of that sheet. And so we're.

Monica Corwin 14:59

Yeah. So the village was. So the village. And then the edge of the forest here.

Andy 15:03

Yes.

Monica Corwin 15:03

And then it restarts on the other side of the map over here.

Andy 15:06

Okay.

Monica Corwin 15:06

That's once you get into the forest.

Andy 15:08

Yeah, yeah. So we. Sorry, go on, Tim.

Sam Stoneback 15:12

I was saying. You said that. And so the guy told us that the temple was in between those two clearings out there. So, I mean, I guess we obviously have to make the decision if we're going to all go down one or if we're going to divide up and check both directions and meet back towards the entrance, or if we're all just. I mean, not.

Ralph Ricks 15:31

It's a bit.

Sam Stoneback 15:31

It's between those clearings. I'm A little concerned because he said that we need to stay on the path. But I don't know if there's going to be a path that connects them back there or if it depends on which direction we go.

Andy 15:40

So we're not going to know until we get there.

Ralph Ricks 15:43

He seemed like he didn't really want us to find it.

Sam Stoneback 15:47

Yeah.

Ralph Ricks 15:48

So like, could we just beeline right for it? Be like, cool. Has some machetes trailblazed. Hope we don't die.

Sam Stoneback 15:58

I don't like the idea of splitting up

Andy 16:02

personally.

Monica Corwin 16:04

Because you guys are new at this typically splitting the party. Not a great idea. Yeah, I will advise of that.

Sam Stoneback 16:10

Things. Things will get complicated storytelling wise if we do this. Guys. Come on.

Andy 16:14

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 16:15

So we have a.

Andy 16:17

We have a pretty long way to go, so we should probably head off. Right. Get into the forest. Yeah. So walking, Walking through. Walking through the village. Try to get to the edge of the forest.

Monica Corwin 16:30

Yeah.

Andy 16:30

Cue big sweeping drone shot of us, you know, walking over the hills into the woods.

Monica Corwin 16:38

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 16:39

Like the hobbits running over the hills.

Andy 16:40

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 16:42

When you get to the forest, you notice this place seems a little bit more solid than the village seemed. As far as like the way it's drawn or the way like the pencil erase, erasable aspect is in there. Yeah. It just looks the most solid that you've seen since you got to this place.

Andy 17:01

Can I.

Ralph Ricks 17:01

Is it.

Andy 17:02

Can I roll?

Sam Stoneback 17:03

Okay, well, you ask your question. See if she answers.

Ralph Ricks 17:08

Is it consistently better or like as we go deeper in, is it getting even better and more solid?

Monica Corwin 17:16

Oh, you don't know yet. We're just at the edge. As you walk in, I will advise.

Sam Stoneback 17:21

I was going to ask if I could roll like I don't know if it would it be insight or arcana or investigation or one of those like,

Monica Corwin 17:28

what do you think?

Sam Stoneback 17:29

To kind of like get. I'm just trying to like. So I was thinking arcana at first. Cause I was just wondering if there was something sort of like magical about even just right at the entrance to this. These forest to see if there's something about it that we're not aware of.

Monica Corwin 17:41

Yeah, you can give it a shot.

Ralph Ricks 17:42

Okay.

Andy 17:44

What are you rolling for that you doing Arcana? Arcana?

Sam Stoneback 17:47

Yeah. Arcana nine plus five.

Monica Corwin 17:51

14. Yeah, that's not too bad. The forest doesn't seem to be sort of inherently magical itself. As you sort of. You guys start to enter, like I said, it seems more solid than the rest of the. The world. And as you walk, you notice that it doesn't seem to the path doesn't seem to erase. As you kind of shuffle your feet and move forward. It seems like this place is sort of outside of the eraser, graphite aspect of this world, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of special magical element that you notice.

Ralph Ricks 18:29

Okay, so should we just keep walking straight to the first clearing?

Andy 18:32

Yeah.

Ralph Ricks 18:32

That's sort of where it splits.

Andy 18:35

Yeah, yeah. So we walk on, get ourselves to the clearing, and we're looking at the forks in the road.

Monica Corwin 18:45

Yeah. So when you guys make it to the clearing, everybody give me a perception check.

Andy 18:52

That is 20, 14. Nine, six.

Monica Corwin 19:01

Okay. 14 is the highest. So the clearing is sort of.

Andy 19:04

Sorry, seven.

Monica Corwin 19:05

About the size of, like, a large. Maybe a large campsite. Not super huge, but big enough that you can move around and move through it. At the edges, you notice there are. So as you see the paths that lead off the two directions. At both paths, there seem to be small stacks of books next to the path.

Andy 19:26

Like small stacks of books next to both?

Monica Corwin 19:28

Yep, next to both.

Andy 19:30

Okay, well, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go to the left and just grab a book and start looking through it.

Sam Stoneback 19:34

Yeah, I'm gonna do that. To the right.

Monica Corwin 19:36

Both of you make Investigation checks, please.

Sam Stoneback 19:41

16 plus 5. 21.

Andy 19:43

Nice one. Plus my 6. I have a 6 multiplier. So 7.

Monica Corwin 19:49

That was a natural one that you rolled.

Andy 19:51

Yes.

Monica Corwin 19:52

Okay, so as you. So you pick up the books, you look at them. There. There's a small stack.

Sam Stoneback 19:55

So forget how to read.

Andy 19:57

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 19:58

On Tim's side, there are two red books and one blue book. If you. Did you just take the one off the top, or would you have taken a specific one? All right, so the blue one was

Sam Stoneback 20:07

on the one on top.

Monica Corwin 20:08

Y. When you open it up, it is completely blank. And then, Andy, on your side, you have two yellow books and a green book.

Andy 20:18

Oh, wow.

Monica Corwin 20:19

Yellow, green, yellow. Yellow was on top. The green in the middle, yellow on the bottom. Which one do you think?

Andy 20:24

I just, like, you know, attracted to new shiny things. Like, different shiny things. So I'm going to take the dream book and look inside.

Monica Corwin 20:30

As you pull it out, you open it up. It. It is also completely blank. You hear a sort of rustle at the path that you're on, and then all of you feel a sort of quake in the ground. Like just a sort of general. Just a quick kind of stutter.

Andy 20:53

Oh, dang. I'm gonna kind of scurry back over to Sam and Ralph Rex with my green book still in hand.

Monica Corwin 21:00

You took the book with you, did you Leave the book or take the book, Tim.

Sam Stoneback 21:04

I still got it.

Monica Corwin 21:05

Okay. And you. Did you leave it on the other books there?

Andy 21:09

How big are you?

Sam Stoneback 21:09

I would say that I probably about

Monica Corwin 21:12

the size of a trade paperback. Small.

Andy 21:16

I think I grabbed all the books.

Sam Stoneback 21:17

I think I probably would have grabbed, like, the second one and been, like, comparing the two when we felt this quick information. Dos. And was the second one. They're all blank.

Monica Corwin 21:26

They're all blank?

Andy 21:27

Yep, they're all blank.

Sam Stoneback 21:28

Okay. Before. So we're feeling this quake, and I just see this thing, and I almost wonder, like. Well, it looks like a notebook to me, right? I mean, it looks like something blank. And I'm. I pose the question to the other guys. Like, you guys think we should try. Like, we have this graphite stuff. Should we try to use it in this notebook? Do you think that would do anything?

Andy 21:47

Yeah, I guess it's worth a try.

Ralph Ricks 21:49

Could, like, rub it on the whole page and see if there are any indentations.

Andy 21:53

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 21:55

I'm thinking of that scene in Big Lebowski where he's, like, trying to figure out the flow.

Andy 21:59

Yeah.

Ralph Ricks 22:02

Fl out, man.

Andy 22:03

You never know where that movie is coming in handy. Yeah, that's right.

Sam Stoneback 22:07

Yeah. Let's try it. I'll use mine since I posed the question. So I take the. We'll say the second notebook, which is. That was a red one. It was a blue and red.

Monica Corwin 22:17

Blue on top and two red underneath.

Andy 22:19

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 22:19

So I had a blue and a red one in my hand. So I take the red one and I take out graphite, spread it on the page. Because it's like a powder, right? Like, can't really, like, rub something, right?

Monica Corwin 22:30

Yep. Okay, so you, like, smear it over the page. It settles into some invisible grooves on the page, grooves that you didn't see before. And. Does anybody speak draconic?

Andy 22:41

Oh, do I have. I think maybe I have a spell for languages. Oh, maybe this isn't it. I have a spell for illusory script. You write on parchment paper or some other suitable writing material and imbue it with potent, potent illusion that lasts for the duration. Okay. Sorry. That's not like, a translation one. I have tongues. Does that. Is that just for speaking, or can that work for writing?

Monica Corwin 23:03

I think it's just for speaking, but let me just double check for you. Yeah. The ability to understand any spoken language adheres.

Andy 23:12

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 23:13

I only have halfling is a language that I know aside from. Okay, so it's language, though we see these grooves.

Monica Corwin 23:22

Yeah. So it is definitely a written language that you can tell is there as you did that. And you flip the page. All of the pages have. Now have this.

Andy 23:31

Well, I'm going to. I'm going to take my green book and do the same thing with one of my little graphite portions.

Monica Corwin 23:37

Yeah, the same thing will happen.

Andy 23:39

Okay, awesome.

Ralph Ricks 23:41

So can my guy and get the other books that you left behind because he's a scavenger.

Andy 23:48

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 23:48

Okay. So, Kim, you took two. You took the blue book and a red book. So there was one red book left there. And Andy, did you take all of the books?

Andy 23:58

I have all the books, so.

Monica Corwin 23:59

And then you took the whole stack?

Andy 24:00

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 24:01

Johnny, give me a perception check.

Ralph Ricks 24:04

Sorry. 13, 17.

Monica Corwin 24:07

Nice. You notice as you sort of look around for anything else at the entrance to the path that you came from sort of set back just enough. Within some, like, small bushes. There are. There's another stack of small books there.

Andy 24:20

Oh, boy. Sweet.

Ralph Ricks 24:22

Can we just snatch them?

Monica Corwin 24:24

Yeah. So those books are. There's an orange book, a blue book, and a black book.

Ralph Ricks 24:34

Can I take an action or is it choosing.

Monica Corwin 24:38

You can do whatever you want right now. We're not in combat, so whatever you feel like doing.

Ralph Ricks 24:41

Can I grab the black one specifically because Magic. And throw some graphite on there and see what happens?

Monica Corwin 24:48

Yeah. The same thing will happen as the other books. It'll fill with a script that you guys are not familiar with.

Sam Stoneback 24:55

I'm gonna do. We need to try to.

Andy 24:57

As we're just, like, standing there kind of looking at this puzzle of books. I'm gonna try to, like, arrange them in chromatic order. Like, see if I can be like, hey, give me that. Give me that black book. Give me the.

Monica Corwin 25:10

You've got yellow books, orange.

Andy 25:12

Yellow, red books.

Monica Corwin 25:13

Orange books.

Andy 25:14

Yeah, yeah. In order. And I'm gonna just put them in order to see if there's any sort of, like, sense that's to be made of it doing that. Maybe there's not.

Monica Corwin 25:24

As you arrange the books, it looks very pretty, but nothing happens. Well, it's time to look.

Andy 25:30

At least it's good for.

Sam Stoneback 25:30

Do I need to roll? Do I need to roll? Like, do we need to roll investigation to check to, like, kind of compare the words? I know we don't speak the language, but just to see if these books are all the same or if they have, like, noticeable differences.

Monica Corwin 25:44

Yeah. So you can roll perception or investigation whichever way you would like. As you hold the books up and try to compare the scripts of them.

Sam Stoneback 25:51

I'll do investigation. 20. 15 plus 5. 20.

Monica Corwin 25:55

Nice. They seem to each be different in what way?

Andy 26:01

In size? In script.

Monica Corwin 26:03

In script.

Andy 26:04

Okay. Gosh.

Ralph Ricks 26:07

Are the books, you know, all the same size thicknesses, like.

Monica Corwin 26:11

Yep, all the same size materials? They do. They seem to be just a normal sort of paper, a leather binding in the various colors. Some of them are like a little bit more scuffed up on the outside than others, but up and then the insides are all like different writing. It seems all the same language that you don't understand. Comparing the letters of them. It seems to be the same language but they're different. Different words inside.

Ralph Ricks 26:34

Does it look like same handwriting?

Monica Corwin 26:38

It is like a beautiful calligraphy script and yes, they all look the same.

Andy 26:43

I wonder if I can use. Let's see. I was just looking through my spells and I have a charm spell which. Oh, nevermind. That's charming to me. I'm just looking to see if there's anything I can like cast on Sam or Ralph to like allow them to read it. And I'm not sure if I do. I have like an enthrall spell that's really more for combat. I have an illusory script spell which is me writing into some paper to imbue it with an illusion which isn't the same as like. It's an illusion. So I don't know if I can actually get people to. To like use that to. To read. Do you have any spells, Tim, that might help with this?

Sam Stoneback 27:22

I was just looking through. I don't really have anything. I feel like at this point I. I'm still kind of nervous about that quake or whatever we felt. And I guess Johnny, that book he grabbed was a little bit off the path, right?

Monica Corwin 27:35

Yeah, it was just slightly off. Just that you didn't notice it as you walked into the clearing.

Sam Stoneback 27:40

You were just.

Monica Corwin 27:40

Yeah, right in. You just kind of missed that it were there.

Andy 27:44

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 27:45

Well, I think my character at least would probably. I'm going to suggest like we should just start going. I think we should kind of keep moving. I'm not even going to grab those as my suggestion, but what do you guys think? Like, should we grab all the books?

Andy 27:56

I think we should keep going. We should grab all the books that we can. Grab all the Bunner clips and just bring them with us. Okay.

Sam Stoneback 28:03

So I reach over and I pick up the two that Johnny didn't get, that Ralph didn't get.

Andy 28:08

Do we have all the books and

Sam Stoneback 28:09

then we keep walking?

Monica Corwin 28:10

Yep.

Sam Stoneback 28:11

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 28:11

You guys have all the books? Yep.

Andy 28:13

As per usual.

Monica Corwin 28:16

Which direction are you walking? There's a path to the left. A Path to the right.

Sam Stoneback 28:21

They look identical.

Monica Corwin 28:22

Yep.

Andy 28:23

In like. Okay.

Sam Stoneback 28:24

So there's not a road less traveled by.

Monica Corwin 28:27

Nope. They look exactly the same.

Andy 28:29

Okay.

Monica Corwin 28:30

Eerily exactly the same.

Sam Stoneback 28:32

Okay, start walking to the left.

Ralph Ricks 28:36

So what do you guys think before we go? I think my guy would like to take a sharp stick and stick it in the middle of the path so that if we go in a circle, we notice. That's smart, because that sounds sus. There's someone like.

Andy 28:50

That's a good idea.

Sam Stoneback 28:51

I'm like, hey, Ralph, you forgot your stick, dude, stop.

Monica Corwin 28:57

Okay. Do you say you're headed.

Sam Stoneback 28:59

You guys want to go to the left?

Monica Corwin 29:00

Yeah.

Andy 29:01

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 29:02

All right. It's just, again, another path cut through the trees. It is probably a good, I don't know, 20 minute or so walk until you reach another clearing that looks the exact same as the last clearing.

Andy 29:16

So his stick is. There's a stick in the ground where?

Monica Corwin 29:18

Oh, no. Okay. Sorry. There's no stick in the ground in this clearing.

Andy 29:21

Okay. But it looks the same.

Monica Corwin 29:22

There are a stack of three books at the start of another path that.

Andy 29:26

Oh, boy.

Monica Corwin 29:27

That leads off. There's only one path away from this one, though. And there's a little stack of books there. And then also a little stack of books on the path that you came into.

Andy 29:36

Oh, wow.

Ralph Ricks 29:37

Okay, so should we choose graphite speed again?

Andy 29:41

I'm sorry, what colors are these books?

Monica Corwin 29:45

So the one near. Okay, so roll a perception check for me.

Andy 29:50

Okay.

Monica Corwin 29:53

You're not rolling to see what colors they are. You're rolling for something else.

Andy 29:56

Okay. 15 plus 116.

Monica Corwin 30:01

Okay, first off, so the books that are on the path as you enter are purple, orange, and gold. And then the one. If you look across the clearing again, it's about the size of a large campsite. You see another stack of books over there, and those are black, blue, and green.

Andy 30:24

Hmm. Well, I like gold things, so I'm going to go grab the gold book.

Monica Corwin 30:28

Sure.

Andy 30:29

And start looking through it. And I'm assuming the pages are blank, right?

Monica Corwin 30:33

Oh, yes.

Andy 30:34

Okay. I don't think I have any sort of, like, reason to believe that if I, like, throw some graphite on the page, I would be able to read the script. So I'm probably not going to do

Sam Stoneback 30:45

that, but, I mean, not waste any more of it.

Andy 30:48

Yeah. At this point, like, how many books can we carry? Like, I don't know if I should grab all the other ones. Yeah. But maybe. I don't know, guys, do you think we should just, like, keep going and

Sam Stoneback 30:57

see, I'm starting To get nervous about like just like taking all these books.

Andy 31:03

I mean we can throw them at an enemy.

Sam Stoneback 31:05

Yeah. I'm starting to feel like, yeah, these are, these are like, what if these are here for a reason? I'm like, you should just be like, I don't know. That's my character being a little bit of a coward.

Monica Corwin 31:17

Johnny and Tim, roll perception check for me.

Andy 31:21

I'm also just going to be like, ah, this gold book. Very awesome. I'm keeping this one.

Sam Stoneback 31:24

Matt. Natural woman.

Ralph Ricks 31:27

Six.

Monica Corwin 31:28

Six.

Andy 31:28

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 31:28

Both of those. Not super great. As you get further in the clearing, you guys are checking out the stacks of books. You guys haven't touched. Touched any of them yet. Yeah. You. As you're standing there, you feel another quake through the ground. This time it feels bigger, like harder than the Levison. And it's not like an earthquake. It's like a rumble.

Ralph Ricks 31:48

Do we hear anything?

Andy 31:50

Nope.

Monica Corwin 31:53

You just feel it.

Sam Stoneback 31:58

That's weird because it's not like a footstep or something. It's like some kind of something deeper. I almost wonder if we're like throwing off the balance of this forest or something by like messing with these books.

Andy 32:10

Maybe I'll suggest maybe we put all the books down and just kind of walk away. What do you guys think?

Ralph Ricks 32:19

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 32:20

Yeah, that sounds good.

Andy 32:21

Do you think we should just.

Sam Stoneback 32:21

Let's put them together like maybe in the center of the clearing. Like, like, I don't know, we just kind of drop them right where we

Andy 32:27

are, put them in a nice little stack in the center of the clearing and just kind of step away.

Monica Corwin 32:31

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 32:32

We know where we're going to be.

Monica Corwin 32:33

You do that and nothing happens.

Sam Stoneback 32:36

Okay, so we keep walking?

Andy 32:38

Yeah, let's keep, let's go.

Monica Corwin 32:41

The path that leads off you, it looks the exact same as the other clearings. And you enter another sort of camp size area. It is different than the ones you've already been into in a way that there's no books and there's no stick.

Andy 32:54

Okay.

Monica Corwin 32:55

Everything else is the same. There are books. Yep. There are books closest to the path entering that would be a black book, a green book and a copper book. And then the furthest away towards one path that leads out of the thing, there is a red book, a blue book and a silver book.

Andy 33:22

Oh geez.

Ralph Ricks 33:24

So metal. Are they metallic? The gold, the silver, the copper books,

Monica Corwin 33:29

they're not like shiny metallic like you, like like a coin metallic, but they, the leather is like. You can clearly see that it's. It's been like inlaid with some kind of metal.

Andy 33:41

Like, guys, Leuchtturm just released this new line of Metallica.

Ralph Ricks 33:46

I have a copper log term right now in use. So could my character take the copper book and throw some graphite with the objective of seeing if it's, you know, like the non metallic ones?

Monica Corwin 33:59

Yeah. So the script will appear on the page again in the same sort of language you were unable to decipher before.

Andy 34:06

Crap.

Monica Corwin 34:07

It will still notice that the book itself, though, is slightly warm to the touch.

Andy 34:13

Ooh. Ooh. Hmm. So it seems like after Ralph points out that it's slightly warm, I'm thinking that maybe. Yeah, like, if we. We should try to get some of these metallic books together. So maybe we should walk onto the next clearing to see if there are any metallic books.

Ralph Ricks 34:31

Should we go back for the gold one?

Andy 34:32

Yeah. The golden. There's the gold one and the silver one.

Sam Stoneback 34:34

That was the silver one.

Andy 34:36

Yeah.

Ralph Ricks 34:37

There was a gold one and other one. The other clearing.

Andy 34:39

Yeah, yeah.

Sam Stoneback 34:40

We'd have to walk back.

Andy 34:41

I hate to backtrack, but do you think that it's worth it? Do you think that we should.

Sam Stoneback 34:46

I'll go.

Ralph Ricks 34:47

I'm fast, I think.

Andy 34:49

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 34:52

So.

Andy 34:52

Goodness.

Sam Stoneback 34:53

Okay, so Johnny goes against that. I walk over and get the gold book or the silver book, pick it up, and then Johnny gets back or.

Andy 35:00

Yep. So I have a gold and a silver and a copper book, and I

Ralph Ricks 35:05

would like to hand the gold one to Andy's character.

Andy 35:08

Okay.

Ralph Ricks 35:08

Because you were looking at it. It looks like it wants you.

Andy 35:11

I was like, ooh, yeah.

Ralph Ricks 35:13

Now we go. Go.

Andy 35:14

Beautiful. Gold.

Sam Stoneback 35:16

Okay, so now I guess can we roll, like a perception check to see if not, like, they're all warm or if we have. Like, anything's different now that they're together?

Monica Corwin 35:25

Yeah, Give me one second. I'm just looking something up real quick.

Andy 35:29

Or is it an investigation check?

Monica Corwin 35:32

It depends. If you're going to hold it, it'll be investigation. If you're just going to look at it, it'll be perception.

Ralph Ricks 35:37

Okay.

Andy 35:39

We're already holding it, so maybe we should do investigation.

Sam Stoneback 35:41

Yeah, yeah, Investigation.

Ralph Ricks 35:43

But what if we all three of them together, see if they get hotter?

Andy 35:47

Yeah. Let's put all three of them together and then roll a investigation. I just want to do that because I have a higher multiplier there.

Sam Stoneback 35:55

Look at the four plus five, nine.

Andy 35:58

11 plus six is 17.

Monica Corwin 36:00

Not bad.

Sam Stoneback 36:02

12.

Monica Corwin 36:06

So altogether, as you're looking at the book and feeling the books, the copper one is warm, the silver one is cold. Not like it's going to freeze your fingertips off cold, but noticeably cold. And the gold one, now that it's with the other two, it sort of lets off like a slight tendril of what looks like fog or gas. It doesn't seem to be harming you, but it just has a sort of. It's just a little bit like wafts

Andy 36:39

off the COVID Oh, wow.

Sam Stoneback 36:43

Okay, so that's weird. There seem to be like reacty is to. I would say that we. Wait, did you say anything about the heat? Like if we touch it, it's.

Monica Corwin 36:55

No, the. So the copper one is just warm. It's just warm. It doesn't hurt you.

Sam Stoneback 36:59

Hot.

Monica Corwin 36:59

It's not like burning hot, it's just warm.

Sam Stoneback 37:01

Maybe we take them apart, keep walking. What do you guys think?

Ralph Ricks 37:06

We take them with us?

Sam Stoneback 37:08

Yeah, take them apart, we split them up. So Annie's got the gold one, I've got the silver one and I hand the copper one back to Johnny because he looks cold.

Andy 37:19

Yeah, let's take him and just keep walking. Walk to the next clearing.

Monica Corwin 37:26

Yeah. The next clearing is similar to the previous ones you found. There are two stacks of books. I assume at this point you're going to be looking specifically for the metallic books.

Andy 37:36

Yes.

Monica Corwin 37:36

In these stacks at this clearing you find a bronze book.

Andy 37:43

All of the.

Monica Corwin 37:44

And it, when you touch it, it kind of gives you a little shock.

Andy 37:47

Oh, wow.

Sam Stoneback 37:48

Ooh.

Andy 37:49

It seems like this is maybe like static.

Monica Corwin 37:51

Just like static. It's not gonna hurt you.

Andy 37:53

Okay. Seems like maybe this is like a little catalyst or something. So let's go ahead and hold this up to the stack of books together. I'm gonna grab like get all the books, put em in a stack, hold them including the bronze book. That's kind of like a little electric up to with the other books and see if and how it kind of affects each other. So I would guess that would be like a.

Monica Corwin 38:14

It doesn't seem to.

Andy 38:15

Nope.

Monica Corwin 38:18

You can roll them in the kitchen. Sure.

Andy 38:20

Okay. 11 plus 6 is 17.

Monica Corwin 38:26

Yeah, that's not bad. As you put the book up to the other books, they are again all the same size, sort of same shape, Just one bronze. It seems to have a little bit more wear than the others. Nothing seems to happen though as far as being with the other books. It still has a sort of slight sort of shock if you move your hand away and touch it again, but nothing crazy.

Andy 38:47

Well, since it's a little bit different, maybe it's worth like throwing some graphite in there and seeing if it gives me any sort of script that I can make sense of so I'm going to do that. Use up one of my graphites. How many did we have to begin with?

Monica Corwin 38:58

You have four. So each of you had four to start today.

Andy 39:01

So I.

Monica Corwin 39:02

Because I didn't remember how many you used last time.

Andy 39:04

I think I used one last time. So that's all right.

Monica Corwin 39:06

We're good.

Andy 39:07

Okay. So I still have two left but. So I throw some graphite in there.

Monica Corwin 39:11

Yeah. The same thing will happen as before.

Andy 39:13

Just same script and everything.

Monica Corwin 39:14

Same script. Same script but different book like content.

Ralph Ricks 39:19

Are there any sort of like distinguishing end papers or like the thing that looks like it could be a title page, like larger bolder script?

Monica Corwin 39:28

Nothing that you can tell. There are no. I can't remember what they're called. The like really fancy lettering. It doesn't seem like there's anything different. But if you close the book and then you open up at the end paper on each of the books there is a dragon head in the color of the outside of the book.

Andy 39:44

This isn't all the books?

Sam Stoneback 39:45

All the books even like the red one?

Monica Corwin 39:47

No, just the metallic ones.

Sam Stoneback 39:49

Metallic ones.

Andy 39:50

Okay.

Ralph Ricks 39:50

And they're.

Sam Stoneback 39:51

And it's all text, no drawings?

Monica Corwin 39:53

Yep. No drawings other than the dragon head and the end paper. That's dragon.

Andy 39:57

Okay.

Ralph Ricks 39:59

Should we keep walking?

Andy 40:01

Yeah, let's keep walking.

Sam Stoneback 40:02

Yeah, I'd say we should. Going another path.

Monica Corwin 40:09

Yes. Two, three, four. Yeah. There's just one. There is another clearing. Same as before.

Andy 40:17

What's the. What does the metallic book look like in this one?

Monica Corwin 40:20

The metallic book is. Lost. My. I hate when I like I'm looking at something and then I change the tab like a typo for the one I have the, this one. The metallic book is brass.

Ralph Ricks 40:39

Is it shiny brass or like got some patina?

Monica Corwin 40:43

It has some patina definitely. Of all of the books, this one is the most worn.

Sam Stoneback 40:49

I don't know if it's worth it, but can I do a perception check just as far as like the further we get in to this forest and like the books are getting more worn. I'm just wondering like are you or you just tell me like is it getting like hotter or is it getting you know, temperature wise or anything sort of in the environment getting different?

Monica Corwin 41:07

Nope, feels the exact same. Is the sun moving like as the days as you're walking and then the sun is moving overhead like in a normal arc. I would say you're probably a little after lunchtime. Now

Andy 41:25

we got these five books. Let's keep going and see what's next. Okay.

Monica Corwin 41:30

You're gonna keep Walking on the path. Yeah, you'll walk down. You'll walk down the path, and you will come to, again, another clearing. This one has a stick stuck in the center of the clearing.

Andy 41:44

Oh, boy. Okay. All right, guys. I think we just went in a circle. I feel like my. So these very much seem like magical books. And I feel like, as a warlock, I should have some. Have some ability, like, have, like, know what's happening here or know that, like, what we can do with it. But I think this is kind of beyond anything I've seen.

Monica Corwin 42:06

Roll history or arcana.

Andy 42:09

Oh, history or. Okay, let's do history. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Wow. 17. And then I have a plus six. Excuse me. So 23.

Monica Corwin 42:20

Nice. You being a lover of stories and art in general. You know, writing being an art form. You once read a book about metallic dragons, and you know that the metallic dragons come in copper, brass, silver, gold and bronze. They are typically considered good. A lot of dragons have a sort of. Sort of thing that they enjoy and hoard and, you know, specifically when it comes to books. Brass dragons particularly enjoy books and hoarding libraries and knowledge.

Andy 42:54

Brass dragon. Should we. Should we try to.

Sam Stoneback 43:00

How much do we have total?

Andy 43:01

I think we just had the metallic ones. I think we dropped all five.

Monica Corwin 43:04

Yeah.

Andy 43:06

Do you think it'll be worth it, remembering that brass dragons like books? I wonder if we can try to, like, summon it and by some. Somehow. By, like, just gathering all of the books that we've seen into one place. Should we just, like, quickly go back through and gather all these books that we've seen and drop, like, the colored books and just, like, bring them back into the clearing?

Sam Stoneback 43:25

Yeah. Maybe the rumble is the. Yeah, the dragon just, like, getting upset by these books being.

Andy 43:32

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 43:33

Also, this is six. There were six stops total.

Andy 43:37

Right.

Monica Corwin 43:38

So the one you entered, and then there are five other clearance.

Sam Stoneback 43:41

So it's a hexagon, a pencil, like a cross. So are you. So we thinking, like, I don't know

Andy 43:48

what's in the middle of that.

Sam Stoneback 43:50

So it's been, like, six sides. So it's. Whatever it is, it said between the path. So it really doesn't matter which path you go on. We need to get to the center somehow.

Ralph Ricks 44:00

The core, I think it.

Sam Stoneback 44:02

The core.

Andy 44:03

Can we go.

Sam Stoneback 44:04

Do we gather up all the books, or do we just take the metallic ones and start, like, just bulldozing?

Andy 44:13

So just remind me. I remember that, like, the metallic dragons are good. Right? Like, they're. They're not, like, probably still a force

Monica Corwin 44:22

to be reckoned with. Usually Considered good. They are. They can still be dangerous. They're dragons. They don't have the same sense of morality as humans do or people. They are. They're like if, you know, a town gets destroyed if it's trying to collect something for its hoard. Oh well, but they're not going to typically go out and try to try to just destroy everything similar to their chromatic brothers like the red and the black and the green.

Andy 44:50

Got it.

Monica Corwin 44:51

Dragons.

Sam Stoneback 44:55

I have an idea.

Andy 44:56

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 44:57

I have the spell invisibility. So. And with this spell, it does say a creature you touch becomes invisible. Am I invisible as well, you know, or is it just.

Monica Corwin 45:10

The spell isn't called invisibility. Read it real quick. It is a creature you touch. Just the creature you touch. Not as well as you. So if you touch yourself, you'll be invisible. Anybody else?

Sam Stoneback 45:26

So could I touch me and want somebody?

Monica Corwin 45:28

You would have to cast multiple times. But it's. So you wouldn't be able to do that actually. Sorry.

Sam Stoneback 45:33

Okay, so then I was just going to suggest if I touch myself, do. Should I like touch myself, go invisible and try to like go in and see what I can find in the sort of into the woods? What do you guys think? Yeah.

Andy 45:50

Think you should give it a try. Like I. Yeah. I mean we could all just go with you and you know, be visible or whatever. Yeah, that's. I don't know. What do you think I know you that well?

Sam Stoneback 46:03

Yeah.

Ralph Ricks 46:04

I have a mask of the wild that I can attempt to hide even if I'm only partly obscured. Could that like you know, hide behind trees and bushes, inch along so no one knows what's up?

Monica Corwin 46:16

Yeah, we'll use that. Sweet.

Andy 46:20

You know. Cool. I also like, I have a misty step spell. So I could. Well, never mind. That's just up to 30ft. Oh yeah.

Monica Corwin 46:29

Oh no.

Sam Stoneback 46:30

Actually I have third level spell of invisibility that says that using a spell slot of third level or higher, you can target one additional feature.

Monica Corwin 46:41

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 46:42

So could I do. Andy and I. Andros and I will be invisible. Johnny will do his little like chorus forest ninja thing and we'll just kind of start heading straight in.

Andy 46:54

We'll do.

Sam Stoneback 46:54

We could do like a like elementary school style, like holding hands like as we go through

Monica Corwin 47:03

with the rest of the books. Sorry, are you taking the books with you? The metallic books or you're leaving them with the rest of the books?

Sam Stoneback 47:10

Taking them with us.

Monica Corwin 47:11

Okay, cool. Eight. Stop. Stop. So you are just gonna cut straight through from that original clearing. Just go right in?

Andy 47:21

Yeah. Let's do it.

Sam Stoneback 47:21

I think so.

Monica Corwin 47:22

All right, give me just. We'll just do. Just keep it simple for the duration of walking through this thick, dense brush. Give me athletics checks.

Andy 47:33

Oh, boy. Better get high on this because I

Sam Stoneback 47:38

had a negative one.

Ralph Ricks 47:40

I got nine. 17.

Andy 47:43

17.

Sam Stoneback 47:44

So 16, 14 plus three. 17.

Monica Corwin 47:48

Not bad. A couple of you have an easier time of it than. Than others. You have to slow down a little bit as Johnny has to try to, like, get over some bushes and get around some, like, trees. There's a little bit of poison ivy there. We walk through the forest, and by the time you get to a small stone path, it is about twilight. There's just a little path that cuts through some heavy, dense tree that kind of close over and. Yeah, just a path there. Okay, follow it.

Andy 48:20

Yeah, let's follow.

Sam Stoneback 48:21

Do we need to check the books first, see if anything's going wacky with books? Or we just. Or we probably would have been checking those along the way. I guess we are.

Monica Corwin 48:28

Sure. Yeah. Nothing's really happened with the books. Nothing's changed. They're still pretty much the same as they were.

Andy 48:34

Let's go down the path.

Sam Stoneback 48:35

Well, I will say my spell. It says it lasts one hour. So I guess we're not invisible anymore. So it wore off at some point.

Monica Corwin 48:44

Did you mark off a spell slot for that one when you did it?

Sam Stoneback 48:47

I did. Oh, I meant to.

Andy 48:48

Did I?

Sam Stoneback 48:49

No, I didn't.

Monica Corwin 48:51

Down. Yeah, just mark. Just make sure you mark off that spell slot as you follow the path up. It leads straight up to a massive bookshelf. It is just a typical wooden shelf that is sort of covering the whole path. And the trees kind of branch up against it very densely. You're gonna have to, like, pry them apart to get through the trees. The bookshelf is arranged in chromatic order from the top all the way down to the bottom. And there are sort of slots, empty spaces in the shelf every.

Ralph Ricks 49:24

They correspond with our metallic books.

Monica Corwin 49:27

A few of them do. There are 15 empty slots on the shelf.

Andy 49:32

Well, probably. Guys, it seems like we should have grabbed all of the books, but we only grabbed the metallic books. So I wonder if we should first see what happens if we just slide in the metallic books where it seems like it makes sense. What do you guys think about that? That sounds good to me.

Monica Corwin 49:49

Yeah.

Andy 49:50

Make sense. Yeah. Okay, we're gonna. We're gonna slide in the five metallic books kind of in the slots where they make sense.

Monica Corwin 49:57

Okay. As you do that, you're gonna just do. Each of you are gonna take a Couple books and just do it all at once. Or.

Andy 50:02

I think I have. Yeah, the gold one and the brass one. So I think we're just gonna do them all at the same time.

Monica Corwin 50:08

Them all at the same time. Okay. As you stick the books in the slots, the ground, like, rumbles enough that you are sort of, like, shifted as you're standing. And then five sort of massive creatures crash through the. The surrounding brush. And these creatures, they are all metallic in the same metallic colors that you have your books. They are sort of tall, built like a column, and they have a slight eraser sort of head on the top, and they have arms that sort of stick out. And then they have a. They each have, like, a long sort of rod that's like graphite.

Andy 50:53

Oh, wow.

Monica Corwin 50:54

These are mechanical pencil golems.

Ralph Ricks 50:57

I was gonna ask if they're making any weird noises.

Sam Stoneback 51:00

Are they?

Monica Corwin 51:00

They are not currently making any noises. They're just standing. They broke through the brush and they're surrounding you completely.

Andy 51:07

I wonder if I should do some sort of a check to see if they're aggressive or not or if they're just standing there. Is that a thing I need to roll for?

Monica Corwin 51:15

You can make a perception check.

Andy 51:17

Okay, maybe I'll do that perception check. And I'm basically just trying to see if, like, they're aggressive or if we need to, like, fight or talk. Ooh, four with plus one. So five. That's not great.

Monica Corwin 51:31

Yeah. They don't seem to be doing anything. They are just standing there.

Andy 51:35

Okay.

Ralph Ricks 51:35

Do they have, like, expressive faces and eyes?

Monica Corwin 51:38

They have eyes. They don't have mouths. They just have, like, just black, fully black, like, round orb eyes.

Ralph Ricks 51:46

Oh, so we can't tell, like, if they're looking at us.

Monica Corwin 51:49

They are a lot taller than you. They're kind of looking over you. Ooh, they're pretty tall. About, I would say, like 7ft tall.

Sam Stoneback 51:59

I'm definitely going to be curious too, so I'm going to try perception as well.

Andy 52:02

See?

Monica Corwin 52:02

Yeah, go for it.

Sam Stoneback 52:03

And I do. Well, okay. Seven plus four. So 11.

Monica Corwin 52:09

Yeah, that's. That's not too bad. They similar, though. Just looking at them, they look like they're staring over you guys. They're not. Not doing anything. Okay.

Andy 52:18

I wonder if they're waiting for the dragons or something, because they sound. It seems like these are like little golems. Like, maybe they're like the guards or predecessors, like, of, like, the dragons. Gosh. Trying to think of what.

Sam Stoneback 52:36

I'm going to throw a rock at one.

Andy 52:39

That was true. Okay. Should I just Try.

Monica Corwin 52:42

You going to throw a rock at what?

Andy 52:44

Are you serious?

Sam Stoneback 52:45

I don't know. I just want to see what they do.

Ralph Ricks 52:47

I'm running.

Andy 52:50

Can I try to talk to one before you do that to him?

Sam Stoneback 52:52

I guess so. I'm like.

Andy 52:57

I'm going to just walk up to one. I have, like, a. And I'm not going to throw an enthrall spell, but I'm probably going to try to go up to one and just, like, get one to talk to me. And I don't know if that's like. If that's like a charisma or persuasion or what, but I'm going to try to engage one in conversation or introduce myself.

Monica Corwin 53:16

Oh, you're just. That's what you're going to do. You're just going to introduce yourself and ask.

Andy 53:21

Ask them to introduce themselves and just try to get, like, them to speak to me.

Monica Corwin 53:24

See what happens. I would say roll a persuasion check. Persuasion gonna be a high DC considering they don't have mouths, but.

Andy 53:32

Yeah, that's true. Well, I have a plus six. All right, so I have a six. I rolled a six, and I have a plus six. So 12.

Monica Corwin 53:42

Well, as you introduce yourself, it does not appear to realize you're even talking to it. It still continues to stare over you. It hasn't moved. It's holding its graphite rod in its little hands. But you hear a slight plop in the dust and the dirt at your feet. And if you look back at the bookshelf, one of the books has fallen, coming out of the slot and fallen on the ground.

Andy 54:06

Does that book color correspond to the one I just tried to talk to?

Monica Corwin 54:10

Yes, same color.

Andy 54:11

Okay. Tim, do you want to throw a rock at somebody?

Sam Stoneback 54:13

Yeah.

Andy 54:14

Samples at a rock?

Sam Stoneback 54:16

No. Okay. But just. That book fell out. That was weird. Should we give. What happens if we take the book to hit to the thing as opposed to, like, it being on the shelf?

Andy 54:25

Do you want to try it?

Sam Stoneback 54:26

Can I do that or. It's for the rock thirst. Should we try?

Andy 54:28

I think you should kind of take the book to it. Sorry, what'd you say?

Ralph Ricks 54:34

The book. Bend down.

Sam Stoneback 54:37

Okay. So I'm going to take the book over to the one that Andy just tripped.

Monica Corwin 54:41

Which color were you? I. I didn't check with it.

Andy 54:43

I walked.

Sam Stoneback 54:44

I think you said you had the gold one. You had the.

Andy 54:48

I was carrying the gold book. I don't know if we decided which one I walked up to try to talk to, so let's say it was the brass one.

Monica Corwin 54:55

One second. I didn't write down my thing that one was. I think that's the one that had like a gas coming off of it. Like it's like gas.

Andy 55:11

Gas coming off of it. And it was pretty worn.

Monica Corwin 55:14

Yeah. So as you get close to the. The golem, it. The book itself starts to let off more gas the closer you get to it. Roll. Who's got the book? Who's taking the book? Tim, Roll me a.

Sam Stoneback 55:32

You're gonna say constitution, like start getting poisoned or something.

Monica Corwin 55:37

I do believe it is a constitution saving throw.

Andy 55:40

All right.

Sam Stoneback 55:40

I have a negative one in constitution. Got a weak tummy.

Monica Corwin 55:46

Okay, let me just. Yeah, yeah. It'll be a constitution saving throw.

Sam Stoneback 55:49

All right. I rolled a 7 minus 1 6.

Monica Corwin 55:52

Ouch.

Andy 55:53

I have a guidance spell that I think can, like increase that. Can I use that?

Monica Corwin 55:58

Yeah. We'll retcon a little bit and say you used it before he was walking to the golem. I think guidance gives you a D4.

Andy 56:04

Yeah. So remind me what I do with that. Like, you just add four onto whatever he did.

Monica Corwin 56:11

So what'll happen is you'll just say that you give them guidance. He will roll a D4 and add that number to the check.

Andy 56:18

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 56:19

Oh, okay. So I have six. So I rolled a four.

Monica Corwin 56:24

Oh, nice. That's the DC was 10. So that's what you need. As increases, when you get closer, you feel yourself getting a little sleepy, but you kind of shake it off and. And it's just. Your ass is just curling off of it. As you get close to the golem, start going.

Sam Stoneback 56:43

I lay the booth down and kind of like I would say that I probably would notice it getting like, gas here. I don't know if I would get all the way to it, but I might kind of like toss it towards its feet and then back up. See what happens.

Monica Corwin 56:56

Yeah. As you. You get close and then as the book gets close, the Gollum is going to make an attack against you.

Andy 57:07

No way.

Ralph Ricks 57:09

Okay.

Andy 57:11

All right, here we go.

Sam Stoneback 57:12

Just me and.

Monica Corwin 57:13

That was a natural 20 that it rolled. You're going to take D6.

Sam Stoneback 57:20

Oh, damn.

Andy 57:21

All right.

Monica Corwin 57:22

You're gonna take nine points of slashing damage from its graphite rod.

Andy 57:27

Dang.

Ralph Ricks 57:27

Okay. Good thing you didn't throw rocks at it.

Andy 57:30

Yeah. Okay.

Sam Stoneback 57:32

Ouch.

Andy 57:33

Yeah. Can I try something?

Monica Corwin 57:36

Yes.

Andy 57:36

So we have both those little, like, pout like portions of graphite, but we also have little portions of eraser.

Sam Stoneback 57:45

Right.

Andy 57:47

What happens if, while this thing is like slashing at Tim. I like with a graphite rod, I'm. I throw. I throw a portion of eraser, like, sort of like in the path of the slash of the rod.

Monica Corwin 57:59

Oh, okay. So you're going to try to intercept the sort of attack.

Andy 58:03

Try to intercept. Throw some eraser at it. I don't know. Maybe it won't work, but we'll see.

Monica Corwin 58:08

Sure do. We will make it sort of like a. Like a sort of counter attack situation. So roll a D20. Add your. I wouldn't say your proficiency modifier because you. This is kind of a new thing. So just roll D20 for me.

Andy 58:23

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 58:24

3.

Monica Corwin 58:26

The eraser sort of. It races at the edges of it.

Andy 58:31

Okay.

Monica Corwin 58:31

And I will say the attack still happens. I don't remember how much damage, but we'll say you take two points less damage that you would have taken, and the end of its rod sort of breaks off.

Andy 58:40

O. Okay, so this is effective, guys.

Monica Corwin 58:45

So Tim, just take away two. Two of the points of the damage that you took.

Andy 58:48

Oh, okay. So.

Ralph Ricks 58:52

So taking Andy's Q, the same golem that just attacks Tim's character, could I take eraser dust and just sort of mash it on its face, around its eyes and see what happens?

Monica Corwin 59:03

As you get closer, it's roll it to 20 for me.

Andy 59:08

Are the other ones just standing there?

Monica Corwin 59:09

This goes in my head. The other ones are just standing there. They're not doing anything.

Ralph Ricks 59:12

5.

Monica Corwin 59:13

5. As you get up there, you sort of have to jump a little bit to get the razor dust on its face. You're able to sort of erase its face, like its facial features, but it is still a golem, and it's still kind of moving its arms a little bit.

Andy 59:30

Wow.

Sam Stoneback 59:32

Okay.

Monica Corwin 59:32

And I'll say at this point, everybody can roll initiative. Okay.

Sam Stoneback 59:36

I was gonna say, is it gonna keep attacking us?

Monica Corwin 59:38

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 59:40

11 oh, 27.

Andy 59:46

Well, nicely

Monica Corwin 59:51

change my camera, but you can see that.

Andy 59:59

So for the listeners who don't see the video, and if you want to see the video, just subscribe to our Patreon at any level and you can watch the video of this. Our dungeon master is drawing basically just like an encampment or like a staging area. And there are five circles that represent the golems, kind of arranged in a hexagon pattern. And she's labeling them with, I think, the color of metal that they are. And one of them, by the gold one, there's a book laying on the ground. And I think. I think, Monica, we were talking about the brass one. I think we threw the brass.

Monica Corwin 1:00:39

Oh, was it the gold one? Oh, it was the brass one.

Andy 1:00:40

I think it was the brass book.

Monica Corwin 1:00:41

Yeah, we'll go here.

Sam Stoneback 1:00:44

How far apart are they?

Monica Corwin 1:00:45

They're about two feet apart. This. It's not gonna be accurate with my squares here. I'm just trying to face my.

Sam Stoneback 1:00:53

They're very close.

Andy 1:00:55

She's laying down some dots that I'm guessing are representing us. We're kind of like standing in front of this bookshelf and all of those golems are surrounding us. So that's great. We really can't, like, get out easily.

Ralph Ricks 1:01:14

Okay.

Monica Corwin 1:01:16

Remind me of your character names. I completely forgot.

Andy 1:01:19

There's Johnny's Ralph, I'm Andros, and Tim is Sam.

Monica Corwin 1:01:23

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 1:01:25

And I'm wondering if, like, we need to just get this book back on the shelf. Like, is it gonna. Is it gonna chill out? We put back on the shelf.

Andy 1:01:33

Look at all the dice you have. Holy crap.

Ralph Ricks 1:01:35

That's awesome.

Monica Corwin 1:01:37

A lot of dice. All right, so what was everybody's initiatives?

Andy 1:01:40

Mine was 20.

Sam Stoneback 1:01:42

I was 11.

Monica Corwin 1:01:44

Tim, you said yours was 11.

Sam Stoneback 1:01:46

Yep.

Monica Corwin 1:01:47

And then Johnny.

Sam Stoneback 1:01:49

Seven.

Monica Corwin 1:01:50

Seven.

Andy 1:01:51

Since I rolled a 20, maybe I should.

Monica Corwin 1:01:54

Then you would go first.

Andy 1:01:56

All right, I'm going to try to grab the book and run over to the. Get it back on its place on the shelf.

Monica Corwin 1:02:04

Yeah. So just roll D20 for me.

Andy 1:02:10

9.

Monica Corwin 1:02:12

You grab the book and you are able to get almost back to the shelf. We'll say about right there.

Andy 1:02:20

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:02:20

It's not as far as distance wise. You just. As you get closer, the book starts to let off more curls of gas. And seeing what happened to Sam earlier, you kind of stop and just wait a second. So you're not going to have to feel the effects of it, if that makes sense. Unless you wanna. Unless you wanna try.

Andy 1:02:40

No, I'm feeling a little shocked that, like, I reacted to this. So I just drop it in its path and back up.

Monica Corwin 1:02:46

Okay, so you're gonna drip the book right there.

Andy 1:02:49

Yeah, just back up slightly, kind of out of the range of the gas.

Monica Corwin 1:02:53

All right, we'll have you back up just a little bit.

Andy 1:02:55

So now the book is laying just right in front of the shelf, and I'm just. I just backed up a little bit.

Monica Corwin 1:02:59

And. Yeah, the golem has its rod and it's sort of holding it up. And the further you take the book away from it, it was moving. And then the further the book gets away, the more it sort of slows down and then freezes.

Sam Stoneback 1:03:15

All right, this is my turn.

Monica Corwin 1:03:17

Yeah. So. Yep. Tim, you're up next. Okay.

Sam Stoneback 1:03:19

I have a cantrip, it's called Mage hand, where I can, like, produce this hand and it can manipulate things. And so I'm going to ask mage hand to pick up the book and put it back on the shelf.

Andy 1:03:30

That's a useful spell.

Monica Corwin 1:03:31

Do you put it in the exact slot that you had that it was in before, or do you put it in a different slot? There are three slots in each color section that correspond with the books. You guys put them all in one slot before the rest of the books are still in slots. Do you put it in the same one as last time or one of the other two slots?

Sam Stoneback 1:03:49

No, different one.

Monica Corwin 1:03:50

Okay. Yeah, yeah. As you. The mage hand comes up, it slides the book in the slot, the brass golem sort of starts to vibrate, and then it collapses into a pile of graphite dust.

Andy 1:04:04

Oh, geez. Okay.

Ralph Ricks 1:04:06

Abruptly refill our little graphite pouches with it.

Monica Corwin 1:04:09

You absolutely can.

Andy 1:04:10

Hell yeah. But yes, you can roll into scavenger.

Sam Stoneback 1:04:16

Just like run over immediately coming up

Monica Corwin 1:04:21

my grass pipe.

Sam Stoneback 1:04:23

Okay, so yeah, so he's stashed. Okay. So now I guess the fact that they. So wherever we. When we move that.

Andy 1:04:34

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 1:04:35

We got rid of this column. So do we need to move the other books or do we wait for them to. Do we have to talk to them first to see if it's in the right place?

Andy 1:04:44

Maybe I think I'm gonna go over to all the metallic books and just rearrange all of them. Right. Like, maybe somebody can kind of help me do that real quick. Is just take them all out of the places where they are and just like, put them in a different place.

Monica Corwin 1:04:57

Are you going to remove the brass one or leave that one where it was?

Sam Stoneback 1:04:59

No, we're going to leave that one.

Andy 1:05:00

Yeah, leave that one and just the rest of them.

Monica Corwin 1:05:02

You're going to move.

Andy 1:05:03

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:05:03

Let me.

Sam Stoneback 1:05:07

So I'm almost wondering if we have to talk to them to test it to see if it's in the right spot, you know, because that's the only way that the other one popped out. You realize that it was in the wrong spot.

Monica Corwin 1:05:16

So the copper golem, the silver golem, and the gold golem all also collapse into piles of gravite dust. The only one left is the bronze.

Andy 1:05:27

So it could be maybe that we're actually putting these in the right spots. Maybe the goal is to like. Yeah, so. So.

Sam Stoneback 1:05:36

So there should only be one more option for the bronze one, right?

Andy 1:05:39

Yeah, yeah.

Sam Stoneback 1:05:40

So we move the bronze. Like I'll move the bronze one into the last option.

Monica Corwin 1:05:46

That one also collapses. And then at the same time, the shelf sort of opens. Opens up. There's Like a passageway between a little,

Andy 1:05:55

like Zelda, like, noise. Okay, so there's a passageway.

Sam Stoneback 1:06:05

I mean, is it anything covered in graphite? He's just like, turn around and go home. He's like, coughing out graphite. Like graphite real quick.

Andy 1:06:16

I'm going to go over and like, maybe get a couple portions of those dissolved graphite golems just to like, load my bag back up.

Monica Corwin 1:06:24

Yep, definitely.

Sam Stoneback 1:06:25

Yeah, same here.

Andy 1:06:27

Yeah. And then should we go on? Is it a dark path?

Monica Corwin 1:06:33

Yes.

Andy 1:06:34

I have a light spell.

Monica Corwin 1:06:36

Yeah.

Andy 1:06:37

So maybe it's a light can trip. Maybe I should cast that. And you touch one object that is no larger than 10ft, any dimension until the spend spell ends. The object sheds bright light in a 20 foot radius and dim light for an additional 20ft. So, gosh, what are my objects again? How do I look at my objects?

Sam Stoneback 1:06:56

Didn't you say you were carrying like a staff or something?

Andy 1:06:58

Okay, hold up a Steph. And I'm just make that a little flashlight. So I'm gonna

Sam Stoneback 1:07:06

hold that in front of me.

Andy 1:07:08

Cosplaying my favorite sort of like Gandalf style character.

Monica Corwin 1:07:13

Are you guys just gonna walk?

Andy 1:07:15

We're just gonna. I'm just gonna bluster on ahead.

Monica Corwin 1:07:18

Yep. You guys walk in, you just walk down. It's a pretty narrow passageway. You only can follow by behind each other as you walk. Andy, you walk. You feel sort of a slight sort of energy in one area before you walk into this open thing that you see before you. Like an open. What we're looking at here is the fire. There's four pillars that like sort of light on fire as you pass through that energy field.

Andy 1:07:49

Okay.

Monica Corwin 1:07:50

And then you noticed four creatures, one in each of the corners of this.

Andy 1:07:55

So I see five.

Monica Corwin 1:07:56

This is not a creature. So there's like an altar with a box on it.

Andy 1:08:01

Got it.

Monica Corwin 1:08:01

What order? So Andy was first. So what order for the. For you two.

Andy 1:08:08

Let's say.

Sam Stoneback 1:08:08

That looks right. Yep.

Andy 1:08:10

Yeah. So. So Ralph is sort of like in the between us, and Sam's kind of bringing up the end. All right, walk in here. I'm going to shine my little light on those creatures and see what if I can see what they are? Is that perception check?

Monica Corwin 1:08:27

Yeah, Roll perception check. And then also, everybody needs a real initiative.

Andy 1:08:33

Perception check.

Sam Stoneback 1:08:34

18.

Monica Corwin 1:08:35

Nice.

Andy 1:08:37

Initiative. 15.

Sam Stoneback 1:08:40

Initiative. 17.

Andy 1:08:41

18. Oh, look at this. Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 1:08:45

You know, we're ready.

Monica Corwin 1:08:47

Gonna roll. One initiative for all of the creatures. Oh, that is not a D20. It's not going to help me.

Sam Stoneback 1:08:56

Got to be one in there.

Monica Corwin 1:08:58

There we go. All right. So tell me again your initiatives real quick.

Andy 1:09:04

My initiative was 15,

Monica Corwin 1:09:09

Johnny 18, and Tim 17.

Andy 1:09:14

My perception check, I think, was, like, 18.

Monica Corwin 1:09:17

Yeah, it was pretty high. And then 14. Okay. So the initial order is going to be Johnny, Tim, and then Andy, and then the creatures. As you guys enter this sort of room, you see these creatures, and they all look like. Like little dragons.

Andy 1:09:42

Oh, like little baby dragons.

Monica Corwin 1:09:44

And they're all in different colors. Brass. Got bronze, silver, brass, and copper. No gold here.

Ralph Ricks 1:09:53

What color is altar?

Monica Corwin 1:09:55

The altar is black, and there's a box on it that is like a. It's like a purple heartwood box on top of the altar.

Andy 1:10:03

Are these dragons just, like hanging out, sitting there? Are they in some sort of.

Monica Corwin 1:10:06

As you enter, they start getting off their little perches and moving towards you. And we already rolled initiatives, so the first person in the initiative is going to be Johnny.

Ralph Ricks 1:10:17

Oh, man, I want to stab one for that.

Andy 1:10:19

Might be aggressive. Or are they just like, hey, mommy?

Monica Corwin 1:10:22

Yeah, they're. They seem aggressive. You're going to have to fight.

Andy 1:10:25

Oh, okay.

Monica Corwin 1:10:26

You get the impression that you're going to have to fight these guys.

Ralph Ricks 1:10:30

That's awesome.

Sam Stoneback 1:10:32

All time.

Andy 1:10:34

I have a.

Ralph Ricks 1:10:35

A thingy called sneak attack where I can deal extra damage.

Andy 1:10:40

Yep.

Ralph Ricks 1:10:41

So within five feet of it. So maybe I'll run up to the brass one and pull that yonder.

Monica Corwin 1:10:47

I think there are. I'm just looking up to see. And I believe there are conditions on sneak attack, though. You have to be within 5ft of an ally. Or does it say on your sheet

Ralph Ricks 1:10:59

you don't need advantage on the attack rule? If another enemy of the target is within 5ft of it, that enemy isn't incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.

Andy 1:11:09

So Sam's right there next to you. I'm apparently way off in the boonies, but.

Monica Corwin 1:11:16

Yeah, go ahead. You just. Yeah, go ahead. You make your attack. You just roll your D20. 16. 16. You said brass dragon. That hits. Yeah. So just roll your damage.

Ralph Ricks 1:11:31

What's the damage?

Monica Corwin 1:11:34

No, you're good. So you're gonna see it on your sheet or your. The app use Sneak attack. So whatever your weapon is, it'll say what damage you can use. I can't. You have a. All right. Is that what you were using? We were said those are dagger stats, so it's gonna be gonna be 1d4 for damage, but with sneak attack, 1d8. No, that's her head dice. Sorry. My tablet died, so I have to look everything up.

Ralph Ricks 1:12:04

Oh, for the sneak attack, it says 3d6.

Monica Corwin 1:12:07

There you go. So you'll do 1d4 for your. Your dagger and then 3d6 damage on top of that. Okay, Figured it out. Yay.

Ralph Ricks 1:12:17

Plus three plus five.

Monica Corwin 1:12:23

So 11.

Andy 1:12:25

Yep, got it. All right.

Monica Corwin 1:12:27

It's got to let out a, like a grumble as you attack it and. Yep, you'll get that hidden 11. It looks pretty hurt already.

Ralph Ricks 1:12:37

Excellent.

Sam Stoneback 1:12:38

All right, and which one was that again?

Andy 1:12:40

That was the deep brass.

Monica Corwin 1:12:43

Brass. Yep.

Ralph Ricks 1:12:44

Okay, Finish him deep.

Monica Corwin 1:12:46

All right, next up is.

Sam Stoneback 1:12:48

Yeah. So remind me. I can do an action. Like, I can do something with like, my dagger and I can also cast a spell. Right.

Monica Corwin 1:12:55

I believe that it's one or the other. Unless you have a spell that one or the other. Okay. It's a bonus attack, a bonus action, or a similar.

Sam Stoneback 1:13:01

Okay, then I am just going one action. One action. Yeah, I am going to. Yeah, I'm just going to attack it with my dagger because I have lots of spells that aren't like, I. I could have proved myself. And I have all these spells that are non. Like damage inducing. They're all like, hold something still or make something distracting or charm them or whatever.

Ralph Ricks 1:13:26

You're not a violent man.

Andy 1:13:27

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:13:27

I mean, you can try to charm it. It's up to you. You're gonna. Are you gonna go at the.

Sam Stoneback 1:13:32

I could. So if I do charm person, then it's gonna regard me as a friendly acquaintance. So if I do that, is it going to, like, fight on our side or something?

Andy 1:13:42

I have a charm person and I think it's only for humanoids.

Sam Stoneback 1:13:46

Okay. Yeah. So humanoid. I see that. Okay, I'm just going to go after it with the dagger. So the same. Same one.

Monica Corwin 1:13:52

Okay. Yes. So just make an attack each one. Y.

Sam Stoneback 1:13:57

And do I have no, I guess, no modifiers for this? That's for saving throws.

Andy 1:14:03

Never mind.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:03

Okay, two.

Monica Corwin 1:14:07

You swing out at the dragon and it's gonna sort of put its wing up and block and keep you.

Andy 1:14:12

Okay. Okay.

Monica Corwin 1:14:14

Well, do you have any bonus actions you want to use or anything like that?

Sam Stoneback 1:14:17

That's like the cantrips.

Monica Corwin 1:14:19

Nope. Cantrips are different things.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:22

Where are the bonus action?

Monica Corwin 1:14:24

They should be the. Should be in your actions towards the bottom there's.

Andy 1:14:27

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:14:27

Sections.

Andy 1:14:29

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:29

This is two weapon fighting.

Monica Corwin 1:14:31

Oh. So if you have two daggers, small

Sam Stoneback 1:14:35

knife, and I have a dagger.

Monica Corwin 1:14:36

Yeah. So you can make another strike at the creature if you have one in each hand.

Andy 1:14:40

Okay.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:42

17.

Monica Corwin 1:14:43

17. That will hit nice. And then you'll just roll damage for it. And that was just the dagger.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:54

Yeah. Dagger. Yeah.

Andy 1:14:57

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 1:14:57

D4 plus two, it says.

Monica Corwin 1:14:59

Yeah.

Sam Stoneback 1:15:00

Okay, so plus two is four.

Monica Corwin 1:15:06

Nice. He is still standing, but looking pretty hurt. And next up is going to be Andy.

Andy 1:15:15

All right, well, I'm gonna, you know.

Monica Corwin 1:15:18

There we go.

Andy 1:15:18

Use my wand. Give it a little Eldritch blast.

Monica Corwin 1:15:21

Yeah. At the dragon.

Andy 1:15:22

The same one at the. Oh gosh, we have so many dragons. I. Yeah, like let's just take them one by one. I'm over at the brass dragon.

Sam Stoneback 1:15:33

Give it a little.

Andy 1:15:34

Give it a little Eldrich blast.

Monica Corwin 1:15:35

Are you going to move so you can get it within so you don't.

Andy 1:15:39

No, I guess they're all taking. I should probably, probably hit whatever is closest to me. So we're all taking like offensive. Yeah. Am I closer to. I can't read the two metal dragons closest to me there.

Monica Corwin 1:15:51

So we've got this is the copper one, this is a bronze one, and then the silver one over here.

Andy 1:15:55

All right, it looks like I'm pretty close to the copper one, so I'm just gonna go ahead and give that a little, little blast. And remind me what I'm rolling for that D20. D22.

Monica Corwin 1:16:07

2. You said you're using your wand. You're gonna like, you'll aim it at the copper dragon, but you're kind of distracted by all the shiny. Cuz you like the shiny and it's going to just skim right past it on the temple.

Andy 1:16:24

I do have a bonus. I do have a dagger.

Monica Corwin 1:16:27

Yeah.

Andy 1:16:27

Might as well do. Do a bonus action hold.

Monica Corwin 1:16:30

Oh yeah, you have a bonus action attack for dagger.

Andy 1:16:32

Yeah, yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:16:34

Go for it.

Andy 1:16:36

4. Man 4. Distracted by so much shiny.

Monica Corwin 1:16:40

Feeling a little upset about your miss. You're going to rush up with the dagger, but like the other dragon, it's just going to extend its wing down and block the attack.

Andy 1:16:48

At least it wasn't an unarmed strike. Melee attack, which I assume is just me going

Monica Corwin 1:16:55

dragon's turn. So we'll start here with the copper and just attack you. Andy, since you're right there in front of. Is going to use its acid breath use. And it's going to. You're going to need to make a dexterity saving throw.

Andy 1:17:16

Dexterity saving throw. Is that D20 again?

Monica Corwin 1:17:19

Yep. And then add your modifier for your saving throw.

Andy 1:17:23

It is 12. And then where do I find that modifier?

Monica Corwin 1:17:26

Well, if you got a 12, that's fine. The DC was 11, so you're good.

Andy 1:17:28

You're not gonna got it.

Monica Corwin 1:17:30

Take the full damage on that. Okay, we'll take half damage though. That's gonna be 10 points of acid damage.

Andy 1:17:38

Okay, where do I put that in my little guy? My. My hit points. Oh, 10.

Monica Corwin 1:17:44

There should be like a little thing where you can click a plus or a minus.

Andy 1:17:47

Yeah, 23 now.

Monica Corwin 1:17:49

Okay, and the next one is going to be the brass dragon over here. Since Johnny hit it hard and. And worse, it's going to use its fire breath.

Ralph Ricks 1:18:03

Dang.

Andy 1:18:04

That will

Monica Corwin 1:18:07

roll a const or dexterity Saving throw, please.

Ralph Ricks 1:18:11

13 plus.

Monica Corwin 1:18:13

That'll be good. Yeah, the DC with 11. So you're good. You'll just take half damage. It could be six points of fire damage.

Ralph Ricks 1:18:22

Can I use my uncanny dodge reaction?

Monica Corwin 1:18:25

Yeah, absolutely.

Ralph Ricks 1:18:26

So that's the one. Yep, by half if I can see them.

Monica Corwin 1:18:30

So you'll only take three points of fire damage. Next up is the Silver Dragon. It is. It's going to get off its perch and come over here and it is going to.

Andy 1:18:48

I'm just gonna turn around and run out. Leave you guys seeing.

Monica Corwin 1:18:53

That is going to be a hit. It's going to do its cold breath at both of you. Both Johnny and Tim. So you both need to make a constitution. Saving throw crap

Sam Stoneback 1:19:07

two minus one one.

Ralph Ricks 1:19:10

Oh, I got 14. You go die.

Monica Corwin 1:19:15

So, Tim, you're going to take 18 points of cold damage. And Johnny, you are going to take nine points of cold damage.

Sam Stoneback 1:19:25

So that brings me below zero.

Monica Corwin 1:19:27

So you are down.

Sam Stoneback 1:19:30

I am down. I was at 16 out of 23 and so that puts me at negative two.

Monica Corwin 1:19:36

So, yeah, you will just fall into like, just fall unconscious on the ground there. Okay, mark it so we know.

Andy 1:19:44

Hey, Ralph.

Sam Stoneback 1:19:45

Okay.

Ralph Ricks 1:19:46

Dang.

Sam Stoneback 1:19:47

Yeah, I can't cure wounds, but I can't.

Andy 1:19:50

Yeah, I can't cure.

Monica Corwin 1:19:54

You do have. I think everybody got healing potions. I think I gave everybody two healing potions. Remember? We'll just say everybody has two healing potions. It is an action to feed someone a healing potion.

Andy 1:20:05

Okay.

Monica Corwin 1:20:05

Just as an FYI.

Andy 1:20:07

Oh, no.

Monica Corwin 1:20:08

Tim, the Bronze Dragon is going to get its perch.

Sam Stoneback 1:20:12

Ralph takes all of my graphite here

Monica Corwin 1:20:15

and that is all it's gonna do. And then we're back to the top with Donnie.

Ralph Ricks 1:20:19

Well, I would definitely like to give Tim a potion and sort of shake

Andy 1:20:24

him, see if it works.

Monica Corwin 1:20:25

All right, Potion, let's see how much you heal for. 4 +4d.

Sam Stoneback 1:20:36

4 what?

Monica Corwin 1:20:39

It seems like a lot. 44 +4 does a potion of greater healing. So roll 44 and add 4, 4,

Sam Stoneback 1:20:49

2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14.

Monica Corwin 1:20:56

Nice. So you will heal 14 points.

Sam Stoneback 1:20:57

All right. Dang.

Monica Corwin 1:21:00

Do you have a bonus action you can Use die. It's all

Sam Stoneback 1:21:05

stunning action.

Ralph Ricks 1:21:07

To dash, disengage, or hide. I'm going to hide behind the altar. Right behind the altar.

Monica Corwin 1:21:12

Yeah. You're just going to come up here.

Ralph Ricks 1:21:14

There's my pit. Tim. Peace. See you.

Monica Corwin 1:21:16

All right, so you will hide. All right, you are next.

Sam Stoneback 1:21:19

Okay, so I've got an idea, which is like a dangerous idea. I'm wondering. So I have thunderclap, which is. Well, where are we? Does it work up here? Inside?

Ralph Ricks 1:21:30

Oh, no.

Sam Stoneback 1:21:31

We're outside, aren't we?

Monica Corwin 1:21:32

You're inside a room, we're inside a passage.

Sam Stoneback 1:21:34

So does it. Does it have to be outside?

Monica Corwin 1:21:37

You said it's called thunderclap.

Sam Stoneback 1:21:39

Yeah, it says you create a burst of thunderous sound.

Monica Corwin 1:21:44

Yeah, it would be. You could use it anywhere inside or outside.

Sam Stoneback 1:21:47

So everyone but me has to do a constitution saving throw or you get 2d6 damage. But that would include, like, you guys. So.

Andy 1:22:00

So.

Sam Stoneback 1:22:01

But I have cure wounds. So, like, I'm thinking I could, like, you know, I got potions. I can. I can help you out afterwards, but they might take some damage.

Monica Corwin 1:22:09

Yeah, do it.

Andy 1:22:11

Do it.

Sam Stoneback 1:22:12

Okay, I'm gonna. I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do Thunderclap.

Monica Corwin 1:22:15

Yeah. So they would need to make constitution saving throws, which I will do. You the saving throws now, or would you like to do? You think that's a good spot to end?

Andy 1:22:28

I think that's a good cliffhanger. Whether or not we. Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:22:31

You succeed or not.

Ralph Ricks 1:22:32

Yeah.

Andy 1:22:32

You succeed in Thunderclap.

Monica Corwin 1:22:33

All right.

Sam Stoneback 1:22:34

Yeah.

Andy 1:22:34

Okay, then. Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:22:37

Give everybody a good shot of the board.

Andy 1:22:39

Thunderclap hanger.

Sam Stoneback 1:22:40

Okay,

Ralph Ricks 1:22:44

so making me want to play this, like, regularly.

Monica Corwin 1:22:47

Fun game.

Andy 1:22:48

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:22:48

There are some solo adventure teams that you can play.

Andy 1:22:51

Yeah.

Monica Corwin 1:22:52

That you don't need a DM for. It's like, choose your own adventure.

Ralph Ricks 1:22:54

Well, we're going to wrap up there before Tim claps his thunder. And we'll be back for episode 200.3 next time, and we'll wrap up our awesome adventure, and then maybe we'll get to chat about it. So thanks for joining us. If you're on Patreon and you can see us.

Andy 1:23:08

Super.

Ralph Ricks 1:23:09

Thank you. And we'll talk to you soon.
